Search Engine MarketingSearch Engine Marketing

In other words marketing your products or services through the search engines.

Search engines are a powerful tool to make your products or services known and attract potential customers/clients.

Bascially there are two ways of approach when it comes to Search Engine Marketing.

  1. A listing in the search results for keywords or keyphrases
This is often called an "organic" result. You don't have to pay for this and it all depends on how good your web site, your content and your web site's popularity is. To get good rankings with the major search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask is a long term project as this will not happen over night.
  2. A listing in the sponsored ads section of the search results
This means advertising your web site, your products or services on the search engines search results for a particular keyword or keyphrase. Advertising get auctioned, which means the highest bidder gets to the top spot of advertising space. This approach is very fast, compared to the organic results and is just a matter of money. How much can or do you want to spend for a click on your advertising and how much money are you willing to spend per day or month. With the right strategy and a functioning web site you should be able to generate interest immediately.

To advertise your website on the major search engines

Google AdWords

Setting up an account is a straight forward process and you shouldn't have any troubles in setting up your advertising accounts. Just use the above links and follow the instructions.

Some further remarks:

  • When adding keywords and keyphrases you may want to use the keyword suggestion tools both companies provide.
  • If you are on a limited budget you should concentrate on keyword bids that are not too broad. e.g. If you sell health related products you may not want to advertise on the keyword "health" as you most likely will run out of advertising budget within no time.
  • The number of clicks and visitors you get are not important - The only thing what counts is that you increase your sales. Don't throw good money away for nothing.

If you don't have the time do manage your campaign yourself or you don't have the staff to do it, why not give us a call. We handle PPC (Pay-Per-Click) Advertising campaigns for a monthly flat fee.
